Electrification in limbo
Khajura:
The community electrification in nine VDCs across Rapti river in Banke district is yet to begin even though the DDC, seven parties and consumers had agreed to begin work a year ago. In a meeting last February, concerned stakeholders had agreed to begin the work on electrification, estimated to cost Rs 200m. Banke LDO Narahari Baral said the consumers have to collect 20 per cent of the fund. He said the work could not begin as the consumers have not yet collected the required fund. The programme is aimed at expanding electricity to Binauna, Baijapur, Phattepur, Mataihiya, Narainapur, Kalaphata, Laxmanpur and Katkuiya VDCs.
