Fair trade march on March 27

Kathmandu, March 24:

With a view of promoting fair trade concept, Fair Trade Group, Nepal (FTGN) is organising a rally on March 27 in Kathmandu.

“The rally, which is named ‘FTO Global March’, is a part of promoting a mark launched by the fair trade organisations around world at recently concluded World Social Forum,” said Meera Bhattarai, president of FTGN, at a press conference here today.

The rally is being organised by the members of International Fair Trade Association (IFAT) in Nepal. IFAT is the apex body of over 250 fair trade organisations in 50 countries around the globe.

“We want to promote FTO Mark as well as create awareness,” said Bhattarai. The rally will start from Basantpur and will go around Ratnapark and Indrachowk.

Altogether 12 member organisations of IFAT including Association of Crafts Producers, Janakpur Women’s Development Centre, Khumbeswar Technical School, Mahaguthi, Manushi, Sana Hastakala, Women Skill Development Project, New Sadle, Nepal Leprosy Trust, Women Development Service Centre, Children Nepal and Nepal Girls Care Centre are taking part in the rally.
