Far western tourism and industrial fair in offing

Kathmandu, November 8:

A week-long Kanchanpur tourism and Far western industrial trade fair-2005 is being organised in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur with a view of giving exposure to trade potentials and promoting tourism of far western development region.

Jointly organised by Export Promotion Committee, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the fair is an attempt to give an exposure to various industrial products as well as services from the country’s most underdeveloped region, said the organisers here today.

According to them, the festival will begin on December 9 and last till December 15 at Khula Manch of Mahendranagar. “Main emphasis of the festival will be identifying export items for the region and promotion of tourism products,” they said. About 300,000 people are expected to participate during the festival.

The event will be a milestone in promoting major tourist attractions in the region like Royal Shukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve, Jhilmila, Bedkot Lake, Ghodaghodi Lake, Karnali, Tikapur, Khaptad National Park and Api and Sipal mountains, states a press release issued here today, “Major pilgrimage sites like Siddhanath, Baijanathdham and Ghataldham will also get exposure.”

The organisers are also expecting visitors from India as well, since Mahendranagar is close to Indian capital city of New Delhi and other cities in the UP. Businessmen will put consumer items to automobiles, agriculture products, herbal products, liqu-ors and tobacco products, garments, carpets, Pashmina, ICT goods and electronic equipment on display cum sale on the occasion.
