FCAN announces protest programmes

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) has decided to halt all works from July 17 if the government does not amend some of the provisions included recently in Public Procurement Regulation (sixth amendment).

Organising a national convention of contractors from all the districts in Kathmandu on Wednesday, FCAN has also announced a series of protests programmes like returning the contract licence to the government, wearing black armband, among others.

“Some of the provisions in the regulation are death knell for the contractors, so we have decided to protest and halt construction works in lack of other options,” said Ravi Singh, chairman of FCAN.
