Fewer takers for top jobs

Kathmandu, December 30:

Contrary to government’s call for the top job in the government undertakings fewer people applied.

By the end of deadline that has expired on December 22 for the application of the top jobs in Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), Insurance Board (IB), Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF) less than 10 applicants applied.

Within the deadline, eight applied for the general manager at the Nepse, the sole secondary market in Nepal, seven applied for the top job at Insurance Board, seven for Citizen Investment Trust and ten for EPF.

The finance ministry has called for the application. “The ministry is finalising the process of appointment within the second week of January,” said one official at the Finance Ministry. Despite the assurance from the government led by Maoist, the applicants are not fully convinced that the government will appoint professionals.
