Fish farming flourishes in Kapilvastu

KAPILBASTU: Fish farming is a big hit in Kapilvastu district, with farmers into it getting good earnings through this occupation. Fish raised in local ponds are supplied to neighbouring Rupandehi and Dang districts as well as to India. Sudhakanta Upadhaya of Sauraha VDC leased ponds and sold 12 quintal fish in five months, earning Rs 60,000. Local women of Taulihawa earn Rs 10,000 each every month selling fish. Bishnu Maya Srimala is self-reliant through fish farming.

Rohu, kamal, bikashi, mangur, silver carp, grass carp fish are being farmed with fry given by tThe District Agricultural Office.
