Five driving institutes sealed for flouting rules

Kathmandu, December 18

The Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interest (DoSMPCI) has sealed five vehicle driving centres for flouting the rules.

The sealed vehicle driving centres were basically either operating without registering themselves in the related government offices, without obtaining or renewing their licences from the government since long time.

The sealed vehicle driving centres include U-turn Driving Institute of Sanepa, Mahalaxmi Driving Institute and Mega Driving Institute of Dhobighat, Perfect Vehicle School and Enterprise of Bhaktapur and Angel Motor Driving Training Centre of Tinkune.

“It is mandatory for vehicle driving centres to take permission from the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) or any office under DoTM before running their business.

However, these vehicle training institutions were operating without obtaining such permission from DoTM and its offices,” said Shree Adhikari, one of the members of the government monitoring team.

The DoSMPCI team had found U-turn Driving Institute and Angel Motor Driving Training Centre had not renewed their licence since the last one-and-a-half years. Meanwhile, Mahalaxmi Driving Institute, Perfect Vehicle School and Enterprise and Mega Driving Institute were running driving classes without registering their firms.

Adhikari informed that the department has sought clarifications from the owners of all these vehicle training institutes and the DoSMPCI will initiate relevant action against these firms, depending on the response.
