FNCSI to hold cottage, SSI fair on Dec 10

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) is organizing the 10th Cottage Industry Fair and National Industrial Exhibition from December 10 to 14 on Bhrikutimandap exhibition ground, the organizing committee said today.

Around 200 individual exhibitors from 50 districts will participate in the exhibition. FNCSI is expecting 2,50,000 visitors during the four days of the exhibition. Around two lakh people had visited the exhibition last year.

Traditional art and crafts, agro-products, Dhaka garments, handmade paper, agriculture tools and Nepali foods will be displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition will also provide interaction between entertainers and customers.

“We are expecting more visitors and business this year,” said Satya Narayan Prajapati, head of the organizing committee. FNCSI is expecting net business of Rs 30 million and contracts worth above Rs 80 million during the exhibition.

Around 2,14,000 cottage and small industries are registered in Nepal and contributing nine per cent to the country’s gross domestic production (GDP). According to FNCSI, 6,00,000 people — 30,000 entrepreneurs including 7,500 women — are associated with the cottage and small industries sector.
