GAN to take part in B’desh conference

Kathmandu, June 20:
A delegation of Garment Association of Nepal (GAN), led by its president Kiran Sakha, left for Bangladesh to participate in the ‘LDC conference of Trade Chambers/Associations’. The meeting is expected to discuss US Trade Bill-2005 which is under consideration in the US senate and US House of Representatives under the name of Trade Act 2005 for allowing duty-free access to readymade garments from LDCs to the US market. According to a press statement issued by Garment Association of Nepal, the programme is being organised by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) with the help of South Asia Enterprise Development Facility (SFDF) from June 21 to 22. During the conference,
GAN’s president will present the picture of Nepal’s readymade garments situation, quota system and the existing scenario of Trade Act 2005. On the sidelines of the meeting, a common memorandum of understanding is also being signed between the countries, says the statement.
