GHC hears 44 grievances

Kathmandu, September 4:

Grievance Hearing Cell of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has heard 44 cases since its inception on May 21. The cell was constituted on April 24 to look after grievances and other problems of the customers’ of banks and financial institutions. The cell heard 17 cases till July 31 and 27 cases till September 1. Among the cases heard, 16 were related to Nepal Bank Ltd, nine complaints related to Rastriya Banijya Bank, four each cases related to Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank, Lumbini Bank Ltd and Nepal Bangladesh Bank.

The cell also had three cases related to Siddhartha Bank Ltd. There was a case each related to Nepal Investment Bank, Himalayan Bank Ltd, Machhapuchre Bank Ltd and Karnali Development Bank. “The cell has started looking at the general cases at NRB,” states a press release issued here by the cell. The new initiative has helped addressing disputes between debtors and the banks. Moreover, it has also been helpful in reducing bad loans of the banks, adds the release.
