Gold at fresh high

KATHMANDU: Price of gold surged by Rs 1,000 per tola to a fresh high of Rs 65,000 a tola in the domestic market on Friday.

Jewellers have said that the ongoing trade war between US and China, which has attracted investors towards gold, and the decision of the government to raise import duty on bullion has made the precious yellow metal dearer in the Nepali market.

The government, through budget for 2019-20 fiscal, increased import duty on gold by Rs 800 per 10 grams to Rs 5,000.
