Govt to monitor market to curb skyrocketing price of fresh vegetables

KATHMANDU: In order to control the excessive price hike of fresh vegetables, the government has decided to continue the regular monitoring of the market.

Summoning the government officials on Sunday, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers directed the officials to immediately contain the skyrocketing price hike of the green vegetables.

Secretary at the OPMCM Mahendra Man Gurung directed the officials to submit the report after carrying out regular market monitoring.

He also directed the officials of the Ministry of Agricultural Development to make strategy to stop price hike after thorough studies and expedite the market monitoring.

The meeting also decided to monitor the unusual price charged by the middlemen in vegetables and take effective steps against cartelling.

On the occasion, Director General of Supplies Management and Consumer Welfare Protection Department Kumar Prasad Dahal said that there was no problem in fresh vegetable productions and stressed the need for effective monitoring.
