Govt suffers revenue loss

BIRGUNJ: The government has been suffereing millions of rupees revenue loss after the Federation of All Nepal Trade Unions called an indefinite industrial estate strike in Birgunj while expressing its solidarity with the agitation launched by officials and health workers of National Medical College here.

All industries were shut down in Birgunj after the trade union of Bhojpura State Committee called strike in all the industries

citing the lack of seriousness of the authority concerned towards addressing the problems of health workers and officials.

Birgunj chamber of commerce and industry said revenue worth of millions rupees was not collected due to the strike in Birgunj Pathaliya industrial corridor. Chairman of the chamber’s Birgunj chapter Om Prakash Shikariya urged worker unions not to shut down the industries for either individual causes or vested interests. Voicing concern at the repeated occurrences of strikes and bandhs, the chapter chairman also warned that they would be obliged to implement the system of ‘No work, no pay’ if the workers do not adopt a more responsible attitutde.
