Houses handed over

KATHMANDU: A total of 150 quake-resilient houses have been handed over to the beneficiaries in Panauti of Kavre district, on Monday.

National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) CEO Govinda Raj Pokharel handed over the houses built by the Charity organisation — Samaritan’s Purse International Relief.

Speaking in the house handover programme, CEO Pokharel urged the locals not to compromise on safety while building houses.

“We have to learn lessons from the huge human and property losses incurred during the devastating earthquake,” said Pokharel.

He further said that the NRA has mobilised the required number of engineers to the quake-affected areas to provide technical support to the locals.

Pokharel urged the locals to rebuild safer and stronger houses at the earliest as the government has been providing them support of Rs 300,000 to rebuild houses.

Pokharel expected that around 150,000 houses will be rebuilt by end of August this year.
