Hydel projects complete

Damauli, June 25:

The construction of the 28-KW Jhyalakhola-II micro-hydropower project in Muchhok village development committee of Gorkha is complete.

The power project was completed at a cost of Rs 4.13 million, according to Sarita Gurung, president of Regional Renewal Energy Service Centre, Rural Empowerment Society, Tanahun district. The project has benefitted 1,695 people of 339 households.

The organisation has also constructed eight more micro-hydropower projects in various parts of Gorkha district.

Meanwhile, a report from Panchthar district said that at least 850 households have benefitted after the completion of the construction of four small hydropower projects. The projects were implemented by Energy and Environment Division. Program officer of the project Kamal Chemjong said Hamse Nibukhola micro-hydropower project (12 kw), Nibukhola Aangsarang micro-hydropower project (16 kw), Harihripulaya micro-hydropower project (45 kw) and Thadokhola micro-hydropower project (12 kw) were constructed in the first phase.

The project programme plans to construct five more micro-hydropower projects in the second phase in the district.
