ICAN launches DISA course

Kathmandu, January 30:

Assistant minister for finance, Dr Roop Jyoti launched Diploma in Information System Audit (DISA) at a programme organised to mark the ninth anniversary of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN). Speaking at the programme, Dr Jyoti once again iterated that the finance ordinance released recently has targeted VAT as a major source of revenue and also claimed that it is a ‘right step taken in the right direction.’

The reduction in taxes would control rampant under-invoicing being practiced in Nepal and would also discourage tax evasion, he said. The financial sector is becoming mired in financial scandals in recent times, while the introduction of ICAN nine years ago has helped produce some good professionals, said Gehendra Nath Adhikary, auditor general.
