International Business Women Summit

The South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) has announced that it will be organising the ‘International Business Women Summit’ in the Capital from September 11.

The first of its type two-day event is being held to strengthen partnership between women entrepreneurs of the South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (SAARC), China and Asean region to boost women entrepreneurship in these regions, as per SAWDF.

“SAWDF aims to provide a platform to women entrepreneurs of these regions for networking and connecting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to each other to explore joint-venture opportunities,” said Pramila Acharya Rijal, president of SAWDF.

According to Rijal, the event will be joined by more than 80 women entrepreneurs from across 18 countries who will demonstrate their products, skills and knowledge among participants. Similarly, almost 70 Nepali women entrepreneurs will participate in the event to showcase their products and services.

Organisers informed that more than 13 internationally recognised women entrepreneurs are scheduled to deliver key note speeches in the event.

The event will also include various business to business (B2B) meetings among participating women entrepreneurs.

Similarly, Padmasana Shakya, secretary of SAWDF, said that the event focuses on the transfer of technology, knowledge and skills among women entrepreneurs of aforementioned regions. “The event also gives Nepali women entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn international experience and technology used in SMEs and production of goods. This will help Nepali women entrepreneurs to scale-up their entrepreneurship,” said Shakya.

Officials of SAWDF said that the event will promote Nepali goods and services ranging from textiles, tea, coffee,different agriculture products and tourism among foreign women entrepreneurs.

Yankila Sherpa, vice-president of SAWDF, said that the summit will also promote Nepal as a tourism destination by showcasing different tourism prospects of the country.
