JEC’s recommendation report presented

The Joint Economic Council (JEC) has submitted its recommendation report on bilateral investment and tourism promotion in Nepal and India to the respective governments.

JEC is a consortium of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry

(FNCCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the apex bodies of the private sectors in Nepal and India.

The recommendations were drafted by a meeting of the JEC held in January this year in Kathmandu. The council finalised the reports after a series of consultations and thorough a study with its stakeholders, states a press release issued here today by FNCCI.

As per the report, the Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry with support of Confederation of Indian Industry will organise promotional programmes in various Indian cities to attract Indian investments in Nepal. The programmes will include seminars, workshops and interactions with all the stakeholders, states the release. The report on tourism promotion has emphasised on free-movement of people and transport, in order to boost regional tourism industry.

A recent agreement on operating direct bus services between various cities of the two countries is a positive note in this regard, states the release.

Meanwhile, Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Confederation of Indian Industry have agreed to organise various skill development trainings for Nepali youths in Ahemdabad. For this, Confederation of Indian Industry will organise special trainings for Nepali youths in the Industrial Development Institute of Ahemdabad.
