Kia bags ‘$10 Billion Export Tower’ award

Kathmandu, January 15:

Kia Motors Corp had received the $10 Billion Export Tower Award from the Korean government. The award was presented by South Korean president Roh Moo-Hyun to the president and CEO of Kia Motors, Euisun Chung, at a ceremony held at the COEX convention centre in southern Seoul.

“The Export Tower Award is a clear testament to the growing number of local customers who are quickly realising that our new line-up of high quality, stylishly designed cars with a multitude of advanced safety and convenience features just can’t be beat,” states a press release quoting Chung. Kia Motors overseas retail sales have increased by 24 per cent in the first 11 months of 2005 as compared to the corresponding period last year, adds the release.

Earlier in March, Kia had celebrated a historic milestone when it surpassed the five million cumulative export mark.
