Lama passes away

Kathmandu, April 21:

Namgyal Lama, president of Nepal Freight Forwarders’ Association (NEFFA) and Thamel Tourism Development Council, has passed away yesterday evening at the age of 52.

He took last breathe at Om Hospital and Research Centre in Chabahil at around 7.30pm on Sunday, while undergoing treatment for liver cancer. Lama is survived by a wife and three daughters.

Lama, a graduate from St Joseph College, Darjeeling was involved in various tourism business and trading activities for past two decades.

He was the chairman of Muktinath de Cargo, Yeti Fashion, Stupa Trading Concern and Tashi Dargey Hotel.

Apart from his involvement in business, Lama was recently elected an executive member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC).

He was also the vice-president of South Asian Freight Forwarders Association (SAFFA) and honorary secretary of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Nepal Chapter. He was also a board member in Inter-Modal Transport Development Board.

One of the dedicated tourism entrepreneurs, Lama was awarded with various national and international awards as well as decorations for his contribution in business and social activities.
