Laxmi Bank’s scheme

KATHMANDU: Laxmi Bank has provided the first loan under ‘Micro Mortgage Scheme’, which was launched targeting to help rebuild the homes ravaged by the devastating earthquakes of April and May. One client residing in Bhanjyang Pokhari, Chhatre Deurali VDC of Dhading district has been provided the credit, as per a statement issued on Wednesday. The scheme, as per Nepal Rastra Bank’s Refinancing Scheme for reconstruction of homes affected by the quakes, provides loan at two per cent interest. The bank aims to provide the loan to 600 eligible borrowers in partnership with its microfinance subsidiary — Laxmi Laghubitta Sanstha. The campaign is also supported by DFID Nepal’s ‘Sakchyam — Access to Finance’ programme.
