Lyft-Didi alliance
BEIJING: Ride-hailing services Didi Kuaidi of China and Lyft of the United States have expanded their alliance to new regions by adding India’s Ola and Southeast Asia’s GrabTaxi. Customers of each company will be able to use their apps to book private cars, taxis or other transportation in each other’s region, the companies said on Thursday. The expansion of the alliance formed in September by Didi Kuaidi and Lyft steps up competitive pressure on rival Uber. Didi Kuaidi says it serves some 200 million people in 360 Chinese cities. San Francisco-based Lyft operates in more than 190 US cities.
