DAMAULI: The District Development Committee, Tanahun, has banned stone, pebble and sand extraction from Kotre of Dulegaunda VDC to Dovan of Khairanitar VDC along Seti River. LDO Hari Prasad Dahal said that the DDC decided to do so after complaints were lodged by locals alleging that the contractors extracted pebbles, stones and sand using bulldozers, loaders and excavators. Khairanitar Dulegaunda civil society submitted a memorandum to the DDC a week ago demanding it stop the uncontrolled extraction of stones, pebbles and sand. VDCs concerned and DDC get 40 and 60 per cent of the income gained from the stones, pebbles and sand supply.
