Nagarkot attracts more tourists

Thimi, November 23:

Number of tourists visiting Nagarkot has gone up in recent days. Nagarkot is one of the famous tourist sites in Bhaktapur.

The hotels have encouraging occupancy in Nagarkot. The ones that were closed during insurgency have also reopened, said Ram Shanker Dwoju, chairman of Naldum Tourism Development Committee (NTDC).

All the hotels here are doing brisk business as the number of tourists — both domestic and foreigner — visiting Nagarkot has crossed 600 everyday from hardly 100 to 150 during conflict, said Surya Prasad Prajapati, director of Hotel Sunshine. The number of domestic tourists has also increased and hotels have almost 100 per cent occupancy with rising inflow of tourists to Nagarkot, Ram Bikram Karki, a hotel entrepreneur, said adding that Nagarkot remained packed with the arrival of tourists, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.

Naresh Bhakta Shrestha

of Nagarkot-based Hotel View Point said that there has been less tourists during Dashain and Tihar festival. “But now, more than 300 foreign and 300 Nepali tourists visit Nagarkot everyday,” Shrestha said adding that there would be overwhelming increment in the number of tourists’ arrival, if there were peace.

In the recent days, inflow of foreign tourists has also increased but the trend could continue if

the peace prevails, the hotel entrepreneurs said.
