KATHMANDU: National Banking Institute (NBI) recently organised a talk programme on ‘Korea and Economic Development’ with Choe Yong-Jin, ambassador of South Korea, in attendance. Chief executive officers of banks and financial institutions of Nepal were also present in the programme, as per a press release issued on Thursday. In the programme, the ambassador highlighted the history of South Korea, its economic development, religion and culture, Korean economic crisis in 1997 and Nepal-Korea relationship. He informed that the main reason for rapid economic development in South Korea within the 50 years of time was the ‘can do’ attitude of Korean people, their devotion on development activities and efficient, effective and strategic leadership. Upendra Poudyal, director of NBI, stated that Nepal can learn many things from the various exercises done by South Korea.
