Ncell completes network upgradation
KATHMANDU: Customers can now experience better and faster mobile internet in Ncell network. The leading mobile service provider of the country has completed its network upgrade in the Kathmandu Valley, enabling its subscribers in the Valley to avail of high mobile data speeds of up to 21Mbps, as per a press statement issued on Monday. The major network modernisation works ongoing for the past few months was aimed at doubling the voice and data traffic capacity, enhancing communication quality and customer experience. Under the network upgrade, Ncell has installed base stations with increased capacity and less weight, addressing concerns that emanated following the April 25 earthquake. These base stations also consume less power, thus reducing the company’s carbon footprint. At the same time, these stations have doubled the voice and data traffic capacity. Ncell has also added more towers to increase coverage. The new base stations have been built and constructed in compliance with regulations defined by Nepal Telecommunications Authority. All installations have been done on buildings qualifying through the stability test done by government-authorised engineers not associated with Ncell. The upgraded network covers most of the areas that have faced network problems due to dismantling of towers. To plug the gaps that still persist in some localities, Ncell continues using mobile deployment units like ‘cell on wheel’ and ‘cell on leg’, ensuring continuity of communication to the customers.
