KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) has taken legal action against different traders and businessmen selling products without conducting measurement tests.

According to Shashi Bhusan Kumar Yadav, office chief of NBSM, many businessmen who were found to be selling and distributing products without measurement tests have been fined as per existing laws and have also been directed to sell goods only after conducting the measurement tests.

The department has been distributing permission for new weighing and measurement devices and has been testing measurement devices in the market, monitoring petrol pumps, vehicular tanks, among other works.
