Nepal Business Forum activated

KATHMANDU: Nepal Business Forum (NBF) — a mechanism formed for coordination between government and private sector — has been activated as steering committee led by industry minister recently endorsed account operation guideline for NBF, as per Industry Secretary Surya Prasad Silwal. The mechanism, which was formed in 2010, was in operation through an executive order, but had been dormant since six months due to lack of account operation guideline. NBF, based on private-public partnership, will stimulate dialogue between the government agencies and the private sector. It will identify constraints, limitations and barriers to investment and business and mobilise concerned line agencies to solve the problems. The statue of NBF has five bodies — High-level Committee chaired by the prime minister, Steering Committee chaired by industry minister, Private Sector Development Committee jointly chaired by secretaries of concerned ministries and president of chambers, Thematic Working Groups comprising government officials and private sector representatives and NBF Secretariat.
