Nepal Pharma Expo concludes

The two-day long Nepal Pharma Expo-2008 has concluded here today. Organised by Association of Pharmaceutical Producers Association of Nepal (APPON), altogether 43 foreign and 32 domestic companies participated and displayed their products and services at the event.

The tw-day expo, which was aimed at showcasing the technological advancement and other changes of Nepali pharma industry witnessed over the years, was visited by an overwhelming number of visitors.

The expo played a vital role as far as effectively enabling various pharmaceutical companies to showcase their latest products and services. Like in other sectors, there has been a rapid enhancement in knowledge and technology applied in the pharmaceutical industry.

The expo achieved a phenomenal success in facilitating pharma manufacturers to share their ideas for further advancement, states a press release issued by APPON.

During the expo, eight foreign scholars and five domestic resource persons presented a total of 13 papers on technical, management and insurance aspects of the pharma industry in Nepal.

About nine billion rupees-Nepali pharmaceutical market is dominated by foreign products and domestic industry meets only about 35 to 40 per cent of the total demand.

There are 41 domestic pharma industries and 11 out of them have already received WHO-good manufacturing practice (GMP) certificate.
