KATHMANDU: The bench mark index at the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) decreased by around 5 points to close at 1,582 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, according to NEPSE.

The domestic share market had, however, witnessed a surge in the past few days.

The sensitive index, which measures the transaction of the companies of 'A' group, has also fallen by 0.88 points.

The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 740.64 million where more than 2.4 million of unit shares of 150 companies were traded.

The transaction of all other companies experienced a slump.

Banking sector ended 4.73 points lower, hotel by 34.32, development banks by 5.97, hydropower 6.42, finances by 7.01, insurance sector 53.67 and production sector by 34.41 points as the other groups went up by 11.85 points.
