Nepse at fresh peak
KATHMANDU: The country’s secondary market bid adieu to Nepali New Year 2072 BS on a positive note, with Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) up 4.78 points or 0.35 per cent to a new all-time high of 1,388.63 points on Tuesday. Owing to low interest rates being offered by banks and financial institutions and lack of other profitable investment avenues, investors have swarmed to the share market in the recent days. Apart from hydropower and finance, all the subgroups witnessed gains. Sensitive and float indices inched up 0.33 per cent to 299.92 points and 0.38 per cent to 99.69 points, respectively. Altogether 1.47 million shares of 121 companies worth Rs 586.68 million were traded through 2,615 transactions during the day.
