JHAPA: No tankers ferrying petroleum products have entered Nepal via Kakadbhitta check point today, according to the Mechi Customs Office.

Of the total 25 empty tankers travelling to the Siliguri Depot in India for filling, only five of them were being loaded, shared Laya Bhandari, Chairperson of the Mechi Petroleum Entrepreneurs' Association.

A total of 35 tankers had entered Nepal via the same check point on Monday and Tuesday with various petro products. Of them, 25 tankers were sent to Kathmandu, five each to Biratnagar, Ilam, Taplejung and Panchthar, added Chairperson Bhandari.

He said that the Indian Oil Corporation had further tightened the passage of petroleum products lately.

Only 10 per cent of the petroleum products have been provided to the tankers reaching from Nepal to refill. According to him, the staff at the IOC have been doing so, citing the command from the higher authorities.
