LG Electronics India, the local arm of the South Korean electronics major, on Thursday launched India’s first 71" plasma TV as part of the company’s strategy to enhance presence in the high-end consumer durable market. The company also unveiled television with a wireless connectivity of up to 50 metres and a battery life of two hours. Priced at Rs 99,000 ($2,250), the wireless TV is connected to a transmitter box housed within 50 metres of the TV set which sends waves to the portable screen. The LG wireless TV is targeted at the tech savvy Indian consumer. “We as a group have tremendous expectations from the Indian market and foresee it as a country to reckon with in the years to come,” said Havis Kwon, vice-president (digital display) of LG Electronics.
