NRB assigns new management in NBL

Kathmandu, July 22:

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has assigned a new operation team led by its chief manager Mahesh Sharma Dhakal as coordinator for the Nepal Bank Ltd (NBL) from today.

The chief manager duo Keshav Prasad Pathik and Krishna Raj Lamichhane are the members in the new management team.

The central bank formed a new team after the foreign management — ICC MT called a quit to the NBL management following the completion of their five-year long tenure on Saturday.

Earlier on Thursday, the central bank had extended the management contract of ICC MT for six more months. But the ICC MT had expressed dissatisfaction over the short time period. They had asked for the extension of 18 more months to complete the reforms in the troubled NBL.

The ICC MT has been appointed in 2002 July as a financial reform programme. It has been trying to computerise all the branches and reduce the staff, which was opposed by the bank’s unions.
