NT reduces phone tariff on Internet use

Nepal Telecom has reduced the charge on telephone calls, while using internet during business hours by fifty per cent.
One telephone call, worth Rs 1.30 used to be completed in two minutes while using internet. The duration has now been raised to four minutes from February 12.
The rate is applicable for internet use through access code 15XXX, during business hours from 8am to 6pm, said Surendra Thike, spokesperson at Nepal Telecom. However, the call duration has not been changed for accessing internet through PSTN telephone lines.
According to him, 14 Internet service providers (ISPs) are providing Internet services by using the access code 15XXX. “Nepal Telecom is slashing the telephone tariff on internet use, keeping in view the increasing use of information technology (IT) in daily life,” Thike said.
Voice call time during business hours will remain unchanged. Similarly, the duration of per call at other times (normal hours and off hours) too will not change.
Meanwhile, Nepal Telecom sources said restart of mobile phone services stays uncertain.
