NTB staff urge office reopening
Kathmandu, May 10:
Employees of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) have urged concerned authorities to restart its operations.
A press note signed by 40 employees of NTB states that the padlocking of NTB since May 8 is being carried out by people who have ve-sted interests to defame NTB and create hassles for its operation.
“We want to clarify that we are not indulging in activities that disrupt the functioning of the organisation,” the release states. There is a need to restructure NTB, but it should be done in a systematic manner. Bringing the functioning of the office to a standstill would not ease the problems but further create them, the release adds.
Though the release is signed by various senior level employees of the organisation but it does not contain the signature of Tek Bahadur Dangi, CEO of NTB. Loktantrik Employees Group (LEG) which has locked out office is demanding the resignation of Dangi.
Talking to this daily, Aditya Baral, spokesperson at NTB said, “We need a working environment. We have been deprived of entering our office by a mob. Things should be done in a systematic way and it is the responsibility of the executive committee to keep an eye over the staff who have not been sincere.”
