Parliament concludes budget debate

KATHMANDU: The Parliament on Friday concluded discussions on the annual budget announcement for upcoming fiscal year 2016/17.

Now, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel is scheduled to answer lawmakers' concerns at the Parliament meeting at 3 pm today.

Minister Paudel had presented the annual fiscal document at the House on Saturday, May 28. The House had begun discussions on it on May 31.

During the discussion, lawmakers of the opposition parties had accused the government of introducing an over-ambitious and unimplementable budget claiming it was distributive in nature.

Lawmakers of the ruling parties, however, had defended it claiming the budget wanted to serve people and accelerate development works.
