Petroleum crisis in Baitadi

Baitadi, April 4:

Baitadi is experiencing a petroleum crisis after tanker entrepreneurs stopped supplying petroleum products.

The situation came to such a pass after diesel stock of Nepal Oil Corporation, Dhangadhi office got exhausted. The NOC, Dhangadhi has been supplying petroleum products in the far western region.

Following the shortage of diesel, long-distance transportation service has come to a virtual standstill since Monday even as some vehicles can be seen stranded on the road.

Petroleum products went scarce following a dispute over tanker fare. NOC reduced the

fare for transportation of POL products from Rs 1,190 to Rs 810. As a result, tanker entrepreneurs stopped supplying POL. This has reportedly been going on for the past 37 days.
