Poverty drops

KATHMANDU: Liqun Jin, vice-president of ADB said in its speech at the MDG forum here, “In Nepal, the incidence of poverty dropped from 44 per cent to 24 per cent, in Pakistan from 48 per cent to 20 per cent, in Bangladesh from 34 per cent to 30 and in India from 42 per cent to 31 per cent in 2003. South Asia should focus on regional cooperation, private sector, inclusive growth process, proper allocation of resources and investment on infrastructure to achieve MDGs.”
