PARSA: The Birgunj customs office collected 52 per cent more revenue than it had targeted for the first six months of the current fiscal year. Revenue came in mainly through evaluation of vehicles and seizure of smuggled goods, said office chief Kewal Prasad Bhandari. The office raised Rs 20 billion revenue during these six months, he said. Meanwhile, Kailai customs office collected Rs 228, 919,000 revenue against a target of Rs 193,152,000. Of the total amount collected, Rs 11 4,153,000 was collected through value added tax (VAT), Rs 96,181,000 through customs duty, Rs 12,484,000 on import of petroleum products and Rs 34, 96,000
as excise duty.
