Rice, maize yield better
Chautara, December 6:
Rice yield in Sindhupalchowk rose by over 20 per cent this year as compared to last year. The district produced 37,115 tonnes of rice from 13,919 hectares of land.
The district agriculture development office said the yield of rainy season rice in irrigated land was 2.66 tonnes per hectare. Yield in rain-fed area was 1.65 tonnes per hectare while yield of summer season rice was 2.35 tonnes per hectare.
Maize production also increased by more than 2,450 tonnes as compared to last year. Yet, despite the growth in maize and rice yield, the district is still short of 10,000 tonnes of food grains.
