KATHMANDU: To mark the World Environment Day 2019, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal (SCBN) organised various activities for raising awareness and conservation of the environment.

Environment-themed art contest for children of staffers, recycling champion contest, talk programmes and tree plantation events were organised at its Lazimpat branch and Bishankhunarayan, Godawari Municipality, as per a media release.

The bank celebrated the 10th anniversary of continuous annual tree plantation at Bishankhunarayan by planting 1,000 saplings. The tree plantation drive at Bishankhunarayan started with the bank’s global initiative of ‘Green Your Flights’ campaign in the year 2001.

The programme was initiated to offset unavoidable carbon emission resulting from business travels. Over the last decade, the bank employees have planted more than 15,000 trees in the area.
