Second WFE summit in Jan

Abu Dhabi, August 23:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the second World Future Energy Summit (WFES) here from Jan 19-21 next year to explore ways for larger investments in alternative and renewable energy sources, WAM news agency reported on Wednesday.

In 2007, investment in renewable and alternative energy reached $148 billion, which was 60 per cent higher than in 2006, a statement from the summit secretariat said.

More than 1,000 delegates from all over the world have signed up to attend the 2009 World Future Energy Summit. Prominent experts in the fields of investment, finance, technology, banking as well as top energy strategists will address the summit. The event will aim at encouraging investors to invest in alternative and renewable energy, the statement said.
