Commercial seed production has attracted farmers of Bhedpu VDC-1 and 2 of Dolakha district. They have started commercial seed production because seed production requires less land and generates good income. According to a group of 75 farmers, they earned around Rs 0.175 million from the production of maize and beans seeds last year.

Tuki, Rural Development Association of Dolakha is supporting them with technical help and market management training.

Earlier, farmers were unaware of commercial seed production but these days they are having a nice income from this business, says Nil Hari Adhikari of Thami Daanda .

Farmers produce seeds of maize, beans, barley, coriander, peas and tomatoes, informs Surya Bahadur Adhikari.
