Spice hunt on for new CEO

KATHMANDU: Spice Nepal Private Limited is looking for a new chief executive officer (CEO) of for Spice Nepal which operates the Mero Mobile cellphone network.

Spice Nepa’s board of directors, while assessing the potential and future of Spice Nepal, concluded that in order to deliver on its strategic objectives the company would benefit from new leadership.

According to a press statement, CEO of Spice Nepal, Dilip Singh, vacated his position yesterday. Pasi Koistinen has taken charge as acting CEO with immediate effect. Spice has started looking for a new CEO.

For the past three months, Pasi Koistinen has been CEO of the number four mobile operator in Cambodia, Applifone Co. Ltd, according to a Spice Nepal statement. Earlier, he held key managerial positions in TeliaSonera.

Spice Nepal/Mero Mobile is part of TeliaSonera, Europe’s seventh largest telecommunication operator in terms of market value at year-end 2008. In the emerging markets of Eurasia, TeliaSonera has majority holdings in leading mobile operators of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Cambodia.
