Kathmandu, April 5:

Spice Nepal Pvt Ltd along with Telia Sonera is planning to become the number one operator in Nepal. Speaking at a press meet here today, Telia Sonera chief executive officer Lars Nyberg said, “We still have a lot to do, but we plan on becoming the number one telecom service provider in Nepal.”

According to Nyberg, Telia Sonera recorded a profit of 10 billion euros profit in the year 2008. “We have many investment plans and we need a local partner to guide us through the requirements,” he added.

Nyberg said Telia Sonera has the best network in Uzbekistan, Switzerland and several other countries. It has 32,000 employees in 20 countries, with 500 in Nepal.

Dilip Singh, CEO of Mero Mobile, said, “Spice Nepal is the highest user of spectrum. Till date, it is using 47 per cent of spectrum which will reach up to 90-95 per cent in the near future.”
