Stock market creates fresh record at 1,712.84 points

Kathmandu, June 27

The domestic stock market index surpassed 1,700-point mark today to close at fresh all-time high of 1,712.84 points.

Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), which opened for trading at 1,685.17 points, advanced 27.67 points, or 1.64 per cent, throughout the day, as demand for shares of commercial and development banks went up.

The banking sub-index inched up 2.97 per cent today to end the day at 1,576.54 points, while development bank sub-index closed 1.28 per cent higher at 1,688.16 points.

The top gainer today was Rastriya Beema Company, whose promoter shares surged by 9.99 per cent per unit to end the day at Rs 11,513. Next in the line was Century Commercial Bank, which saw 9.98 per cent hike in its share price to Rs 474, followed by Jebils Finance, whose share price jumped by 9.84 per cent to Rs 268.
