LALITPUR: Tribhuvan Army Club and Friends Club advanced to the semi-finals of the Lalit Memorial U-18 Championship here at the ANFA Complex grounds on Monday.

TAC thrashed Himalayan Sherpa Club 3-0 in the first quarter-final match of the day.

Chhiring Lama, Bibek Chaudhary and Susan Lama scored one goal each for the departmental side, who will face Morang Football Club in Wednesday’s semi-final.

In another match, Friends beat Lumbini Football Club 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the regulation period. Dipesh Prasai put Friends ahead  in the 16th minute before Mohan Thapa levelled the scores for Lumbini in the 53rd minute.

Rohit Karki was the hero of the match as the Friends goalkeeper stopped two penalties. Friends will now face Brigade Boys Club for a place in the final.
