Unions flay no work no pay policy

CHITWAN: Chitwan-based trade unions have protested against the 'no work, no pay' policy of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

All Nepal Trade Union Federation district chairman Anak Magar said the concept was against labourers' welfare and demanded FNCCI withdraw its decision. General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions district president Gobind Aryal said all workers should unite against the decision. Laxman Bhattarai of Nepal Trade Union Congress (Independent) said workers were not to blame for any party's strike. Chairman of chamber of commerce and industry, Narayanghat chapter, Mitra Raj Duwadi said industrialists can pay only for working days. Chairman of chamber of commerce and industry, Ratnanagar chapter, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha said the government should enact a law to cut the salary of workers who don't work on particular days.

FNCCI introduced the policy of 'no work, no pay' on Monday.
