Shangri~la Hotel and Resorts, Kathmandu, announced celebrations for its silver jubilee with events throughout the month of July extending up to August. “In the last 25 years, Shangri~la has been able to carve a niche in hospitality industry. The hotel was established with a few rooms back in 1979, and has come a long way,” shared Daman Pradhan, chief executive of the hotel. The hotel has plans for several activities for their staffs as well as patrons. “We would like to reiterate our commitment on this occasion that we want to make Shangri~la a model which will stand out and set an example in the hospitality industry in Nepal,” said Pradhan.

Beginning today, the first guest in the hotel will be given a special welcome from Shangri~la. “The first guest will be honoured as a VVIP and will be picked up from the airport in the best car available in town and will be honoured in the best way,” says Sanjay Mathema, sr manager, sales and marketing. Events that will be carried out during the silver jubilee celebration of Shangri~la include planting trees, gardening and road cleaning programmes that show concern for the environment besides providing food to underprivileged children, a blood donation camp and others. Shangri~la is also coming up with some innovative concepts in their outlets. “In the restaurant Lost Horizon, for the whole month of July we are going to start happy hour from 4 to 7 pm with the special buy-one-get-one-free scheme. Top 25 corporate houses and 25 travel agencies will be treated with specially made cakes which will have the logo of Shangri~la,” informed Mathema.
